The Doppler shift is a phenomenon that all radio frequencies experience when there is movement. Movement can be due to the transmitter, receiver, or other objects within range of the receiver. The Doppler effect has been used for all types of radar, but now the Doppler effect is being used in the Internet of Things!
ReachRF offers a wide-range of transmitter kits paired with open-source software for research and development of new and exciting applications using Doppler Sensing.
The ReachRF Doppler Sensor
Our transmitters are specially designed to allow the user to set the carrier frequency using a potentiometer (POT). The user can place the transmitters in any location where there is a continuous power source.
Using a software defined radio as a receiver, users can experiment and build new algorithms for detecting and classifying moving objects, even in non-line-of-sight!
Embedded Projects
Also available from ReachRF, is a receiver kit which allows the user to coordinate with an Arduino microcontroller, for enabling real-time embedded applications. Simply flash the ReachRF Doppler Sensor Receiver with the specially formatted .ds file, and deploy the sensor for movement detection through walls.
Classification
Users who wish to classify objects by their movement can purchase the ReachRF Doppler Sensor Trainer software to easily build a classification system.
User Cases
Automotive Doppler Sensing (ADS)
Autonomous vehicles are not capable of sensing other autonomous vehicles in non-line-of-sight, until now! With the ReachRF sensor equipment, advanced driving assistance system designers can enable new co-operative detection of other equipped vehicles without special communication equipment. The ADS approach provides accurate detection of vehicular movement through an ADS Transceiver.
Purchase a ReachRF Doppler Sensor Transmitter kit, then download our support software using MATLAB to train machine learning detection algorithms. We also provide example captures of vehicular movement upon special request.
Burglar Detection
Using machine learning, build the next generation in-door burglar detection system withe the ReachRF Doppler Sensor Trainer. Train the sensor to detect typical house movement of your animals while you are away. Anomolies are instantly detected and flagged if unauthorized movement is detected.
